It is a very clear and concise introduction, very well written and organized. After a page long introduction to regular expressions it goes to the RewriteEngine directives, as RewriteRule, PassThrough and Redirect.Then Bowen goes to present the .htaccess files and how to use RewriteCond, RewriteLog and RewriteMap with map types.
Unless you simply want to know what mod_rewrite is, this 11 pages is an excellent introduction. If you want to solve a real problem, then you need to go to the Apache documentation.

Very good overall intro to something that can be intimidating to Apache admins. Clear explanations. Actually used one of the examples to solve a problem that I was struggling with. Well Done!v
